MySQL is identified to be a fast, stable and true multi-user,multi-threaded SQL Database server which is mainly used by web database and also used for data-warehousing,  e-commerce, logging application and also by other application. It is widely used as it can store information from a single record to wide catalog records that are used in the website and also has other features like high availability, storing of data and retrieval of data.robustness and it is easy to use. You can perform manipulations on the data before retrieving or saving it.

These MySql functions can also help in reducing the network traffic in client/server applications and also help in improving the overall system performance.

The MySql database is most commonly used for small to large business operations as it can handle a large subset of the functionality of the powerful database packages and with large datasets, it works well and very quickly. Now let us quickly look at the example of MySQL function-  MySQL saves date data types in the format "YYYY-MM-DD" by default but if you need your application to have a date to be returned in the format "DD-MM-YYYY", you can do this by using MySQL built-in function DATE_FORMAT. DATE_FORMAT is one of the functions in MySQL which is mostly used. But when the application is integrated with the other system this would become a problem (with such functions as DATE_FORMAT) then you can have that functionality embedded into the database .which would reduce the re-work in the business logic and reduces data inconsistencies.
